Langtang Valley Trek

10 Days

Langtang Valley Trek is the nearest Himalayan region from Kathmandu Valley, offering breathtaking adventures and cultural immersion. After just a few hours’ drive from Kathmandu, you’ll find yourself in the beautiful Langtang region, a narrow valley nestled between snowy peaks to the south and the main Himalayan range along the northern Tibetan border.

This trek offers stunning views of Mt. Langtang Lirung (7,246m), Ganchhenpo (6,388m), and Dorje Lakpa (6,990m). The high-altitude and isolated Langtang Valley is inhabited primarily by the Tamang and Sherpa communities, whose religious practices, language, and traditional attire reflect deep-rooted Tibetan culture. The Langtang Valley Trek is an exceptional opportunity to explore traditional Tamang villages, climb small peaks, witness majestic glaciers, and visit ancient Buddhist monasteries.

You can customize your Langtang Trekking experience by returning to Kathmandu via Syabru Gaun or Gosaikunda (4,300m), a revered destination for thousands of pilgrims during the full moon festival in August. Trekkers who climb a bit higher from Gosaikunda are rewarded with views of mountain ranges from Annapurna to Gaurishankar.

For an extended adventure, combine your Langtang Trek with a visit to Helambu, a picturesque Sherpa village on the other side of the Langtang Valley. You can traverse the Ganjala Pass or the Lauribina Pass to reach Helambu, starting from Sundarijal, just an hour’s drive from Kathmandu. This route takes you through charming Sherpa villages like Melamchi Gaun, Tarkeghyang, and Shermathang. Don’t miss Yangri Danda, a three-hour climb from Tarkeghyang, which offers awe-inspiring views of snow-capped peaks and the surrounding landscapes.
