Upper mustang trekking region was opened for foreign trekkers in 1992 and limited tourist visit this region in a year and requires the special permit from the government of Nepal. Mustang trek offers the pristine beauty of nature and culture. Mustang Trekking region is more close to Tibet in terms of cultural practices and the geographical structure than rest of the Nepal. Upper mustang trek also offers the views of the mountains like Annapurna (8091m), Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Machhapuchhre (6996m.), Nilgiri, Tukuche, Himalchuli etc. During the upper mustang trek trekkers get chance to explore the culture and lifestyle of the ethnic people like Thakali, Gurung, Magar, Ghale etc. Lo Mangthang, the capital of the upper mustang, is the walled city of just 106 houses which is inhabited by the Tibetan Buddhist people. In Lo Mangthang you can see many Buddhist monasteries. Upper Mustang trek also known as the Lo Mangthang Trek begins with the scenic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. Then you head to the gate way of Upper mustang Kagbeni which is situated on the bank of the Kali Gandaki River. You follow the bank of the Kali Gandaki River there. Kagbeni is famous for Saligram, a stone on which the image of Hindu Lord Vishnu is carved. There you see the Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims flocked to Muktinath, the sacred place of Hindu and Buddhist. The deepest gorge of the world made by Kali Gandaki River between Dhaulagiri and Annapurna is another remarkable attraction of this trek. You visit many centuries old Tibetan monasteries like Tiger Monastery, Namgyal monastery, Choser Monastery in Lo Mangthang. While trekking you traverse the desert land of the Trans Himalayan region, rugged mountains, villages etc. you can combine this trek to the Muktinath temple. The best season to go for upper mustang trek are autumn and spring when the weather is clear and you can have the clear view of the mountains.

Manaslu Trekking

Manaslu circuit trek is located in the Gorkha district towards North West of Kathmandu valley. This trekking takes you around the Mt. Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain of the world which is also known as the Killer Mountain. Manaslu circuit trek is the challenging trek which provides the rich bio diversity, culture and lifestyle of the rural people of the rural people of Nepal as well as the superb mountain vistas. This trekking region is mostly inhabited by the 3 ethnic Magar, Gurung, Tamang, and Chhetri, Brahmin community in the lower region and Tibetan Bhotias people whose culture and religion is similar to the Tibetan people in the upper region.

In this circuit trek you can enjoy the close up view of the Mt. Manaslu (8156m.)- the 8th highest mountain of the world as well as other mountains like Ganesh Himal, Hiunchuli, Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, Langtang range, Annapurna range and Tibetan mountains etc. during the Manaslu circuit trek you cross the high pass like Larkya La pass. The challenging and adventurous Manaslu circuit trek begins with the drive from Kathmandu to Aarughat bazaar. From Aarughat you follow the Budhi Gandaki river valley and passes through the subtropical forest in the Middle hill land to alpine meadows and the high desert land, ethnic villages, and emerald terraced farm with the views of the river valley, mountain vistas, waterfalls as well as the natural scenery.

In the lower part of the Manaslu circuit trekking region is inhabited by the Gurung, Magar, Tamang etc whereas the upper part is inhabited by the Tibetan people. From the Tibetan village you reach the Samagaun and head to Larkya La pass and enter the Marsyangdi river valley and descend down to Bhimtang before joining the Annapurna circuit trekking trail. This circuit ends at Besisahar of Lamjung District. The Upper part of the Manaslu region is controlled trekking region and the trekkers require the special permit from the government of Nepal. The best season to go for the Manaslu circuit trek is from March to May and August to November.
